Waterfall's Add a Beautiful Touch to Your Pond

Adding a waterfall to your pond can be an extremely attractive addition to your landscape.

The sound of flowing water can be so soothing. You can make your backyard feel like an outdoor paradise, just watching the sun glisten off the falling water. You can be very creative with pond waterfalls as well. You can design a waterfall in just about any formation you see fit.

In order to create a successful pond waterfall, you will need to begin with a good foundation. Think of the waterfall in the same way that you would think of a small hill or mountain. The base will need to be nice and wide, and the rocks that you stack on top of the base will need to taper upwards.

The formation should become smaller and smaller the higher it rises. In order to create this effect, you will need to get a variety of rocks and stones in different sizes. Flatter rocks usually work best for waterfalls. Now you are getting to the part where the real creativity will come in, so be sure to enjoy the process.

The part that follows may not be as much fun. You will need to create a way for the water to fall down the waterfall. You will need a pump to pull the water out of the pond to be re-circulated to the top so it can trickle back down into the pond again over the rocks. You can hide a pipe behind the waterfall, and you can hide the pump itself behind the waterfall as well. You will need to create another system of pipes to pull the water out of the pond.

You will need to determine what kind of waterfall you want. Do you want to create a soothing trickle or a fast rushing waterfall? The flow of water will be determined by the size and strength of the pump. You will also want to make sure your waterfall will be able to stand up to stronger currents structurally. If you find that a little readjusting is necessary, do not be discouraged.
